Bloomsburg Earns OT Win in Field Hockey
SLIPPERY ROCK — Bloomsburg University's Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) scored 3:05 into overtime to lift the Huskies to a 1-0 win over Bellarmine (KY) College in college field hockey action Sunday. The game was played at Slippery Rock University.
The Huskies were forced into overtime after 70 minutes of scoreless play despite dominating play in every area except the score. In the extra session, freshman Kropa scored off an assist from fellow freshman Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) to give Bloomsburg the win.
Bloomsburg goalie Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped three shots to earn the win.
The Huskies improved to 14-1 overall with the win and gave coach Jan Hutchinson her 1,499th career win combined between field hockey and softball. She will go for win number 1,500 on Wednesday when the Huskies host East Stroudsburg at 4 p.m.
